if people believe the leaders of the govt are corrupt, self-serving, and dishonest to their core, doesn’t this lead to a weaker currency? i wonder if there are analagous historical situations to look to here.

Is a correct way to think about this that imports will effectively cost 10% more on top of any changes due to tarriffs?
Excluding Japan, you say “mutes the Dollar drop of recent days”, but doesn’t the blue line show the opposite result?
